We love to bar-b-cue in our family. While I was growing up, my dad literally fired up our charcoal grill every Saturday afternoon. He’d pour some gas over the coals, strike a match and toss it into the grill from about five feet away. Remembering the sound of the “woosh” of the fire igniting still brings a smile to my face. Of course, by the time I had my own grill, I was using a propane fired grill instead of charcoal. However, I was still using the tongs and long forks as cooking utensils.

Apparently there’s you don’t need to keep track of or replace those rusty utensils any more. The last time I went over to my son’s house, he was using a Grill Glove to turn the meat on the grill. Since I wasn’t familiar with this product, he explained that this particular glove was made from food grade silicone, temperature resistant to 500 degrees F and was easy to clean up by just running through the dishwasher. It seemed like a good idea, but before I bought one for myself, I wanted to see what else was out there.

The first ones I looked at were made from leather. While leather gloves such as the Grillmark are versatile and somewhat heat resistant, not being able to clean them thoroughly is a big negative for me. Leather doesn’t really do well when soaked or scrubbed in water, so I eliminated all the leather ones from consideration. Although it would have been neat to have a set of Jim Beam leather grilling gloves, the same negatives of leather would still apply. The same would hold true of the Chef Master gloves; a great company name in the bar-b-cue industry, but the gloves have the cleaning disadvantages inherent to leather.

Weber and Steven Raichlen offer gloves using suede leather, so that to be a popular material for grilling gloves as well. While I’m sure they’re comfortable, flexible and easy to use, removing all the grease is still improbable. The Raichlen Company also offers rubber coated gloves (for food handling only), but they only give heat protection to 248 degrees F.

That left me with the Grill Glove that I saw my son using. Since then, I’ve seen it often advertised on the As Seen On TV commercials. Besides it’s high temperature resistance and ability to be dishwasher cleaned, there were a couple of more positives that made me decide to order this glove. The main thing is that being cleanable and made of food grade silicone, cross contamination of foods is limited. Also, being compatible with water, you can reach into a pot of boiling water to retrieve hard boiled eggs or anything else you have boiling. Finally, there’s the cost. Of all the gloves I saw, the Grill gloves “buy one, get one” offer was the most reasonable, plus I felt it was the best glove on the market. I ordered a pair and have enjoyed using them.

Late this summer, I heard about the Grill Glove. Actually, I heard about it from two sources; my son has one and I happened to hear about it on an As Seen On TV commercial. Sometimes I wonder what we ever did without all the stuff that’s advertised in those infomercials. Between that and Sully’s Store, you really can keep up with all the neat new gadgets without ever leaving the LazyBoy.

Grilling on the Patio

My son was the first person I ever saw actually us the glove. He was bar-b-cuing chicken, and reached into the grill and turned the sizzling pieces while wearing the glove. When he said he didn’t feel a thing, I knew I had to order it and I did. The best thing about ordering is that it was a “buy one, get one” deal, and I’m glad it worked that way because my wife began using one of the gloves the day they came in. We use the grill at least once a week; it
may not be very healthy, but it sure is good. I am using my Grill Glove exclusively…I threw away my tongs. Like the commercial says, I flip my steaks, burgers, hotdogs, potatoes and anything else with this amazing glove. It really is heat resistant and hot gravy proof.

The Grill Glove Indoors

My wife uses this glove in the kitchen to handle her hot foods. No more tongs or long forks or dropped foods. She has no compunctions about reaching into the oven to turn a roast or stick her hand into a pot of boiling water to retrieve anything. Unlike the other oven mitts, the Grill Glove has five fingers, which makes grabbing smaller foods like hard boiled eggs really easy. She also gets a lot of use from the Lava Mitt that came with it. It’s an easy way to grab hot cooking sheets of any size and shape without getting burned.

One afternoon, my wife came out while I was grilling and saw that the glove was sort of greasy and stained. I guess that would be normal from using it at the grill. So, we put it in the dishwasher as they suggested, and it came out looking really good…ready for the next Saturday afternoon bar-b-cue. We’ve washed it several times, and it really is none the worse for running it through the dishwasher. I guess the food grade silicone fabrication of the glove has something to do with how well it’s holding up.

Unfortunately, I didn’t think about giving the Grill Glove as a Christmas gift as it would have been one of those items that really would have gotten used and not returned. But, we have a large family, so with spring and summer birthdays coming up, it’s going to be an easy choice to give as a gift, specially with the “buy one get one” offer

GRILLING BASICS
Whether you are a first time griller or a seasoned pro these grilling tips will get you going!

Starting Up
Charcoal: On the charcoal grate, place crumpled newspaper or fuel cubes. Cover with charcoal briquettes to form a pyramid. (If you are using lighter fluid, soak the briquettes with a liberal amount. Tightly recap and store fuel container far from the grill and any flames. DO NOT ever add lighter fluid to a lit fire.) Light the charcoal. Charcoal is ready when briquettes are coated with a light grey ash, in about 25 minutes.

Tip: For easy charcoal setup, use a quick-start grill. Fill starter with briquettes, place over fuel cubes or crumpled newspaper in center of charcoal grate, and ignite paper or cubes. In about 25 minutes briquettes will be ready.
When charcoal is lightly coated with ash, arrange coals evenly across charcoal grate for the Direct Method or place on either side of grate for the Indirect Method.

Gas: Open grill lid. Open tank valve. Turn front/first burner to High. Allow 2 to 3 seconds for gas chamber to fill. Push ignition button firmly. The burner should light after only one or two pushes of the button. Once first burner is lit, turn middle/ next burner to High and repeat with other burners until all burners are lit. Close lid. Allow grill to preheat on High to 500- 550°F. Place food on cooking grate and adjust burners to temperatures and cooking method given in the recipe.

Note:
•	Always keep the bottom tray and grease catch pan of your gas grill clean and free of debris. This not only prevents dangerous grease fires, it deters visits from unwanted critters. A sprinkle of red pepper is another safe way to discourage animals.
•	If a flare-up should occur, turn all burners to OFF and move food to another area of the cooking grate. Any flames will quickly subside. Then, light the grill again. NEVER USE WATER TO EXTINGUISH FLAMES ON A GAS GRILL.
•	Do not line the funnel-shaped bottom tray with foil. This could prevent the grease from flowing into the grease catch pan. Grease is also likely to catch in the tiny creases of the foil and start a fire.
•	For the first few uses, the temperature of a Weber gas grill may run hotter than normal. Once your grill is seasoned and the inside of the cookbox is less reflective, the temperature will return to normal.
•	The handy food thermometer that comes with a Weber gas grill is an instant-read model. Placed in its holder, it registers the cooking temperature inside the grill. You can also remove it (wear a mitt) and use it as a probe to check the done- ness of food. Promptly replace it in its holder after taking a reading on a piece of food. Never leave it in the meat dur- ing grilling because the thermometer’s glass face could shatter.

When grilling safety is a must! Be safe by using the right equipment and grilling tool like the grill glove!

The Grill Glove the Ultimate Grilling Assistant…

Probably one of the neatest items I’ve seen on As Seen On TV is the Grill Glove. This glove allows you to pick up or turn hot foods right off the grill without getting burned. You can throw out your rusted tongs and long handled fork ’cause the Grill Glove does a much better job at picking up or turning your grilled foods. Using this glove, you can pick up a hot baked potato, flip steaks, or even pull an egg out of a pot of boiling water without feeling a thing! Hot Dogs were always getting away from me on the grill, but no more! It’s fabricated from 100% food grade silicone, so you don’t have to worry about chemically contaminating your food. Plus, it’s dishwasher safe.

Hello all Grill lovers I wanted to talk about an really cool Product I recently tried called the Grill Glove. I saw the Grill Glove on TV and thought cool, but I had my doubts as I always do when it comes to many products I see on TV. The product offer claimed that the glove Resists Temperatures Up to 500ºF amongst numerous other great benefits. Anyhow I decided to pass.

Then a few months later I was at a coffee shop and I over heard a Chef talking about it. I asked him if he was talking about the Grill Glove as seen on TV which he responded yes! This Chef loved this product he spoke about how they had several in his kitchen and everyone uses them. He was talking about using them to remove really hot items out of big industrial ovens, as well as when sauteing over high flames, in addition to flipping steaks. He said they had a few by the grill and a few by the oven. He was talking about how his wife thinks he is obsessed with this glove.

Well I tell you they should have this guy selling this product because I immediately went home an ordered one and got the second one free. They had an option to get another at a discount which I passed on and I tell you know I really wish I took advantage of that. I use both mine and I am not giving one away but I wish I got more as these will make the best gift ever for fathers day! Oh well I guess I will just have to order a few more.

When I first took the product out of the package I went straight into the kitchen and turned on the oven and the stove. As soon as everything heated up really hot I started touching and grabbing. I was totally amazed. When I grabbed a really hot pan out of the over I was holding on to it waiting and waiting and all was good. I set the pan down think the glove would be melted and it was fine. I was very careful and I am not recommending for anyone to do anything other than use for what they say to use it for.

I got one by the oven and I use the other for grilling and I am now a Grill Glove addict as well. Thanks for the really cool product!
